Governors Installation Evening
On June 22 a gathering of Rotarians, family and friends met in Las Cruces at the new and beautiful Las Cruces Convention Center. The event was the installation of the four Dona Ana County Rotary Club Presidents and my installation as District Governor.
The evening began with some
social time and heavy hor devours and drinks.
All enjoyed a time of fellowship, music and food; a true staple of
Rotary life. Past District Governor Dick
Jones presented PDG Tom Lindsay, PDG Dan Garrison and PDG Dan Schulte, with District
5520 Past District Governor Pins.
The pins are unique to our district as they are inlaid with turquoise.

PDG Dan Garrison was the master of ceremonies and also conducted the installation of President Wendy Beserra, Rotary Club of Las Cruces Rio Grande; President Frank Navarette, Rotary Club of Anthony; President Eddie Groth, Rotary Club of Las Cruces; and President Kendall Wallin, Rotary Club of Las Cruces, Mesilla Valley, my home club.

The evening concluded with my
installation as District Governor 2012-13. PDG Dan was District Governor ten years ago and I was one of
his Presidents. I am a past
president of the Rotary Club of Anthony.

During the ceremony, it was my honor to pass the DGE Pin to Christopher "Kit" Turpen, DG 2013-14. Kit inturn presented Lonnie Leslie, DG 2014-15, with his DGN pin.

I was very proud to present
IPDG Bobby Wallace with his Past District Governor pin. Bobby and his team had a great and very
successful year. His are big shoes
to fill.

Installations took place all over the District this month. As we are all installed, leadership is changing and a new year is beginning. The next weekend our new
year was off and running and “Peace Through Service” is spreading through out the
land.
My Family

My family was there; my parents, Jeff and Lora Nell Glenn, my sister and brother-in-law, Don and Susie Sumrall. Our kids were also there; Josh and Erin Hurguy from Tucson with Emma and Tessa, Luke and Erin Hackey from Las Cruces with Addison, Kamren Pearce from Tucson and Roy Hackey and Cassie Butcher from Las Cruces with Jordynn. And of course my beautiful wife Lynne. It was a great evening.
