Rotary Club of Estancia Punkin Chunkin

A very special "thank you" to the Rotary Club of Estancia and President Victoria Sedillo for inviting Michele and I to attend the Annual Punkin Chunkin.  We enjoyed being the Grand Marshall in the parade and meeting so many wonderful people.  This was a super fun event that brings out over 3000 people each year.  It is amazing how far a pumpkin can be "chunked" out of a cannon. The proceeds from this event go towards scholarships in the Estancia community.

Rotary Club of Alpine

A very special "thank you" to the President of the Rotary Club of Alpine, Greg Freidline,  for making my visit to their club such an enjoyable experience.  He has really got this club focused and on the move!  Thinking "outside the box", the club decided that any month there are 5 meetings, the 5th meeting would be held in the evening to help those members who have a difficult time making the meetings during the day.  The Rotary Club of Alpine sent 5, yes I said 5, students to RYLA!  WAY TO GO!  The club holds several fundraisers throughout the year including a pancake supper, selling chili at the Art Walk and an Annual Rifle Raffle.  They award scholarships to incoming freshman who attend Sul Ross State University.  The club has already appointed two members who will serve as New Generations Chairs.  The Rotary Club of Alpine is also working on starting an Interact Club in their community.  Thank you Rotary Club of Alpine and keep up the great work!

Rotary Club of Eunice

For a small club, the Rotary Club of Eunice is making a huge impact in their community.  The club holds an annual golf tournament to raise money and then award four $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors.  The club also makes numerous contributions to local charities and causes.  President Russ Martin could not make the meeting because of the flu.  We hope he is feeling much better.  Thank you to the Rotary Club of Eunice for making me feel so welcome.

Rotary Club of Van Horn

I truly enjoyed my visit to the Rotary Club of Van Horn.  President Larry Simpson has set some aggressive goals and I know they will achieve them!!  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members for bringing their spouses to the meeting.  I enjoyed meeting them all.  The Rotary Club of Van Horn has added four new members so far this year and they are looking to add a lot more!  Congratulations!!  The club has many projects and fundraisers that keep the members extremely busy, but they are making a difference.  The Club sells ads in the football program and awards two graduating seniors scholarships from the funds they raise. The members place boxes at many businesses in town and collects school supplies for underprivileged kids.  They support the West Texas Food Bank and hold an enchilada dinner to raise more money for scholarships.  Keep up the great work Rotary Club of Van Horn!
